Jans Luck wins 14th race of the year

Thwarted in the Lightning Lane last week, Jans Luck made her own luck Friday at The Meadows, going wire to wire in the slop to capture the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace. It was her 14th victory this year.

Although she raced well in her last outing, Jans Luck finished a neck back when she found racing room too late. On Friday, Dave Palone sent the 4-year-old daughter of Camluck-Jans Scooter to the front, where she cut out a comfortable first half in 56.3.

From there, Jans Luck cruised home in 1:54.2, defeating the ground-saving Bottom Dealer by 2-3/4 lengths. Streetcarnamedsire endured a tough first-over trip to be third.

Ron Burke trains Jans Luck for Sylvia Burke, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and M1 Stable. It was one of four wins on the 15-race card for Palone. (The Meadows)
