JA’s Commando, lightly raced of late, scored an impressive wire-to-wire win and equaled her lifetime mark in Tuesday night’s featured race at Colonial Downs.
JA’s Commando’s only other race at Colonial was a week ago, when she finished seventh and lost by 14 lengths. The sophomore filly pacer brought strong credentials though into Tuesday’s event. In just 22 life starts, she had amassed $149,170 in earnings.
Trainer-driver John Wagner directed his pacer right to the front, and she clicked off fractions of :28, :59 and 1:27.4 before crossing the wire in 1:56.1. She was a solid three-length winner over Kan Target. Single Spice finished third. (Colonial Downs)
