September 02, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Jereme’s Jet turned in one of harness racing most incredible finishes to a mile when he paced the last quarter of the $48,000 Hayes Memorial 3-year-old colt and gelding pace in :24.2, crossing the finish line in a Du Quoin track record of 1:48.1. Stunned by the final time, track officials checked the tapes and verified the time for the last panel.

Dave Magee was in the bike as Jereme’s Jet swept in to the lead off an opening quarter in :27.1 and set fractions of :54.3 and 1:23.4 before his amazing stretch drive.

The time equals his lifetime best which he set in his last start in the Review Stakes at Springfield.

In the next race, the $40,000 second division of the Governor’s Cup for Illinois-bred 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers, Woodrow Wilson winner Fox Valley Barzgar cruised to a 1:51 victory for Magee. It was the first start for the Incredible Finale colt since winning the Wilson at the Meadowlands on Aug. 4. His next race will be Super Night eliminations in one week at Balmoral Park.
