Jereme's Jet returns Sat.

March 15, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Jereme's Jet, the 2005 Two-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year, will make his 4-year-old debut in the $10,000 Open Handicap Pace at Pompano Park, the first appearance for the son of Western Hanover since winning the Windy City Pace at Maywood Park last November, an effort that has since resulted in a positive test for the class 3 drug pyrilamine. Trainer Tom Harmer has appealed the positive.

Harmer told harnessracing.com earlier this month that his 2007 plans for Jereme's Jet called for one start at Pompano following a 1:54.1 qualifying effort two weeks ago before shipping the horse to Yonkers Raceway for the George Morton Levy Series that begins March 31.

"We’re ready now. I don’t qualify them into shape, I train them into shape,” Harmer said at the time. “He has a big year coming up. When you have one this good, you have to go for it whether you get it or not. What do they say? You can’t win if you’re not in.”

Jereme’s Jet won six times in 14 starts as a sophomore in 2006, increasing his career ledger to 21-12-2-1 and $1,342,196 in earnings. He paced to his career mark of 1:48.1 last year at Springfield, Ill.

Harmer will drive Jereme's Jet in Saturday's Open at Pompano, leaving from the outside post six. The remainder of the field, in post position order, are: Weekend Bernie; Golden Majesty; Lislight N; Eleven AM; and Shattered Halo.
