Jeremes Sweetheart sweet in Dover victory

Return Home
January 07, 2013 | Print View

In only her fourth start since being acquired by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta, Jeremes Sweetheart stepped up the $23,000 Mares Open Handicap at Dover Downs and swept to her third consecutive victory on Monday. Driver Corey Callahan had four winners on the card.

Ron Pierce was at the controls as the 4-year-old daughter of Jereme's Jet-Fox Valley Evanna trained by Eric Ell, took control early and was never headed recording a lifetime best 1:52 victory. Shine N Shimmer came on to finish second for Eric Carlson with Freedom Crossing, driven by Allan Davis, the show payoff.

Earlier, Pierce drove 18-1 Mark's Quik Pulse to a 1:54.4 score for owner-trainer Jay Baxter to win a $20,000 mares pace.

Madges Lil Fortune, reined by Davis, stalked Ryder Blue Chip (Tim Tetrick) until reaching the stretch, then shot past to score a lifetime fastest 1:53.3 victory in the $16,000 winners-over mares pace. Wayne Givens conditions the Cams Fortune-Madges Powerdream mare for Love Of My Life Stable. Lorrie Please (Eric Carlson) was third.

Tetrick gave Tony Domino and Richard Lester's Alice's Restaurant a new mark notching a 1:51.1 conquest in a $14,000 mares pace. It was the first win this meet for the Western Ideal-Alice Alice veteran winner of $511,153 lifetime. Pacific Date (Davis) took second in front of Nice N Nice (Jim Morand). (Dover Downs)
