Jet's quarter slowed to :26.4

September 18, 2006 | Print View

The official time for Jereme's Jet's three-quarter clocking in the Hayes Memorial at Du Quoin earlier this month has been changed to 1:21.2 from 1:23.4. As a result, the last quarter that has been listed as :24.2 is now recorded at :26.4 in the 1:48.1 mile posted by the 3-year-old colt pacer in the $48,000 Hayes Memorial Saturday afternoon, Sept. 2.

Jereme's Jet rattled off first-half fractions of :27.1 and :54.3, but then skepticism arose when the three-quarters flashed at 1:23.4, which would have meant driver Dave Magee backed down the third quarter to :29.1. Now that third quarter is officially being recorded at being paced in :26.4.

"The Du Quoin stewards and race secretary Doc Narotsky reviewed the video tape after it didn't appear that the third quarter had slowed down that far," Du Quoin general manager Jim Hannon told harnessracing.com Monday afternoon, Sept. 18. "It came to our attention and we clarified the problem."

That win was Jereme's Jet's second straight 1:48.1 victory. He has drawn the outside post eight in the third of three Little Brown Jug eliminations Thursday afternoon at Delaware, Ohio. Trainer Tom Harmer officially named Tony Morgan to drive the son of Western Hanover in the Jug.
