Chicago harness tracks are in the midst of a serious horse shortage, and one prominent defection from the entry box will be 19 horses trained by Joe Anderson. With the decline in purses at Balmoral Park and Maywood Park, Anderson decided to to take 19 horses to the East Coast. He has said he plans to race at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Harrah's Chester, and the Meadowlands. Since Hoosier Park approximately 120 horses have left leave Balmoral. Tuesday night's (May 6) card has only 75 competing and 74 are in-to-go Wednesday night. A few horses that raced on Sunday are also back in to race on Wednesday.
