Even if you don’t own a horse, you can take now your best shot at winning the Little Brown Jug. Just go to www.jugbarn.com to create your own stable and participate in the Little Brown Jug Fantasy Stable contest.
Modeled after the popular “Road to the Roses” contest for the Kentucky Derby, jugbarn.com allows players to select horses and accumulate points for each of the 14 scheduled contest races leading up to and including the Sept. 20 Little Brown Jug. Contestants will also select two trainers and two drivers. Players accumulate points if their horses are among the top five finishers in each race. The first races in this year’s contest are the Burlington and the Art Rooney Pace final, which are both scheduled for Saturday, June 2. In a change from last year’s contest, this year players will have until 10 a.m. on the day of the race to activate horses for their stable. There is no entry fee to play. Valuable prizes will be awarded to the top contestants. The first place prize is a John Deere Gator ATV, courtesy of John Deere and the U. S. Trotting Association-Harness Tracks of America members benefit program. Tickets for next year’s Jugette Day and Jug Day are also included. Other prizes include popular electronics, tickets to the Jug, and souvenir jackets and hats. The jackets and hats are provided by Jim Winske’s Embroidery Ltd., the Little Brown Jug souvenir vendor. The top 15 point leaders at the halfway mark (after completion of the Monticello Gold Rush on July 30) will win 2 stadium seat tickets to this year’s Little Brown Jug.
Jugbarn.com is a joint venture between the Delaware County Fair, home of the Little Brown Jug, and www.harnessracing.com, the daily news web site of The Horseman And Fair World magazine, and is sponsored in part by Youbet.com.
