Jugette winner Good News Lady in Friday's Bluegrass

Good News Lady won’t be resting on her Jugette laurels very long as she will take to the track eight days after her multiple-heat win in Delaware, Ohio, last week in one of three $81,000 Bluegrass divisions for 3-year-old filly pacers Friday afternoon at The Red Mile.

Good News Lady landed post one in the third of the trio of divisions, with Greg Grismore once again getting the drive from trainer Jimmy Takter. The daughter of Western Ideal is owned by Brittany Farms, Val D’Or Farm and Christina Takter.

Good News Lady won the first heat of the Jugette for her first victory of the year, then made a break behind the gate in the second heat, which then forced a two-horse race-off with that winner Sprig Hanover for the trophy. Grismore sat second with Good News Lady behind the John Campbell-driven Sprig Hanover throughout that race-off before outsprinting that one to the wire.

Sprig Hanover drew into the first Bluegrass split, drawing post three with Campbell again in the sulky. Also in that contest is 2007 Two-Year-Old Filly Pacer of the Year A And G’sconfusion.

Also on the Friday 13-race card, Hambletonian Oaks winner Creamy Mimi will meet up with Bella Dolce, who defeated her in the Simcoe at Mohawk earlier this year, in one of two $118,000 Bluegrass divisions for 3-year-old filly trotters. Bella Dolce has now posted seven straight victories heading to Lexington, while Creamy Mimi is a six-time winner in 2008.
