The 2009 Jug Fantasy Stable Contest gets underway Saturday with the $500,000 Hoosier Cup at Hoosier Park, and players have a chance to earn points quickly as eight starters in the 12-horse field are eligible to the Little Brown Jug.

Jug Fantasy Stable is free to play and players can sign up anytime at www.jugbarn.com, but if points are to be earned in the first contest race of the year it must be done by 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 30. A Jug Fantasy Stable consists of 10 horses—five are activated for every contest race—and Hoosier Cup starters Annieswesterncard, Sheer Desire, Mr. Wiggles, Chasin Racin, Vertigo Hanover, River Shark, Sam’s Escape and Nob Hill High are all Jug eligible and able to earn fantasy points.

Great prizes are in store for the players who choose the right stable and keep their active horses in play for the major summer stakes leading up to and including the Sept. 24 Little Brown Jug in Delaware, Ohio. Valuable prizes include a full package to the 2010 Little Brown Jug and Jugette including box and pavilion seats, three nights at the Sheraton Suites and a $250 betting voucher.  Other top prizes include a Toshiba 37” HD LCD TV, Toshiba laptop, $100 Office Depot Gift Cards and souvenir shirts and caps. It’s fun, easy and free!

Prizes also will be awarded to the top 10 leaders following the Meadowlands Pace final on July 18.

Jugbarn.com is a joint venture between the Delaware County Fair and www.harnessracing.com, the daily news web site of the The Horseman and Fair World magazine, and is sponsored in part by Youbet.com.The U.S. Trotting Association-Harness Tracks of America members benefit program and Jim Winske’s Embroidery, Ltd. provide the prizes.

A complete list of Little Brown Jug eligibles is available on the Jug web site
www.littlebrownjug.com.

You must activate five horses from your 10-horse stable for each contest race. Only horses that are given “active” status will be eligible to earn points. Players collect points if their horses are among the top five finishers in each race.  When you choose your initial stable you must also select two trainers and two drivers.

You will have a timeframe after each race to change your active horses, with the deadline being 10 a.m. the day of the race. You will be able to replace up to two horses in your stable, along with one trainer and one driver, during each of two supplemental draft periods.
