In front of a packed house of more than 5,000 fans, Tioga Downs hosted a special Sunday night race card, with a post time of 6:30 p.m. for the Fourth of July.
In the $15,000 featured Open Handicap Trot, Mike Simons and All About Justice left from post position four and as the field passed the quarter released the wagering favorite, Baseball Express (Howard Parker) through an opening quarter of :28.1. Parker cut through fractions of :58 and 1:27 with no movement from the field to go after the leader.
As the field hit the head of the stretch, the only one left with a shot was Simons who moved All About Justice to the outside and trotted right by leader to stop the teletimer in 1:56.1. It was the first win of the year for All About Justice who is trained by Gail Wrubel for the partnership of John Furfaro and Mike Simons. Baseball Express hung on for second, while Earlvic (Fern Paquet Jr.) trotted home late for third. (Tioga)
