PIO Power made it two wins in a row in the $14,000 featured trot Saturday at Dover Downs.
Matt Kakaley sped PIO Power into the lead and had little trouble the rest of a 1:57.4 mile to take this division for the second straight week. Trish Foulk owns and trains PIO Power now a winner of five of his 20 lifetime starts and $71,343 lifetime. CC’s Fred (Sean Bier) closed with a rush to finish second. Jessee’s Career (Allan Davis) was the third-place horse.
The top two paces were $20,000 male claimers. In the first, Master Chad, owned by Franny West and Chucky Pitts, stormed home a 1:54 winner with Art Stafford Jr. in the bike. The Masterman-Hey Ada gelding had two straight seconds in his previous encounters. Alastair Hanover (Daryl Bier) had the lead until the final strides and finished second in front of Jennaraton (Ross Wolfenden)
Meet leading driver Corey Callahan posted his second win on the card guiding Carol and trainer Jim Atkinson’s Mars Pacific to victory in 1:52.4 in the other $20,000 claimer and was claimed. Smart Nukes (Tom Curtin) and Star Of The Game (Vic Kirby) were the second and third-place finishers. (Dover Downs)
