Kat N Mouse snapped an uncharacteristic three-race losing streak on Friday at The Meadows when she rallied in the “Lightning Lane” to capture the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace. Kat N Mouse won eight of her first 16 starts in 2008--all against top competition--but the 5-year-old daughter of Expensive Scooter-Sea Mouse was raced conservatively in her first two races off a 10-week layoff. Not so on Friday, as she fired toward the front from post seven for Bill Zendt, settled into the pocket behind Jan’s Luck and had plenty left for the drive. She scored in 1:52.4, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Jan’s Luck. Osborne’s Gypsy persevered on the outside for a half-mile and finished third. Alan Davadik trains Kat N Mouse, who is owned by Michael Callipare and the estate of Kathleen Callipare. Despite her outstanding record, Kat N Mouse was sent off at the generous price of 6-1.
