A group of 10 freshman filly trotters will contest the $161,800 Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stake Wednesday, August 25 at Indiana Downs, the feature of a 14-race card that will offer nearly $670,000 in purses. The program also includes the $50,000 Circle City for two-year-old colt and gelding trotters, as well as a full slate of Indiana Sires Stakes action.

Merrie Annabelle runner-up Creme De Cocoa tops the list of fillies competing in Wednesday’s Kentuckiana Stallion Management Stake. The Chocolatier-Judge Judy two year old finished third in the $200,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes final for trainer and driver D.R. Ackerman before racing second to Thatsnotmyname at The Meadowlands. The Doug Ackerman Stables’ homebred, a winner of $150,010 with a mark of 1:59, has drawn post six.

Trond Smedshammer will send out a trio of fillies led by Angelette Hanover, fifth-place finisher in the $437,000 Merrie Annabelle. The Michael Andrew-owned Yankee Glide-Angelina Hall filly has drawn the rail in the program’s sixth race. With one win in five starts, the Hanover Shoe Farms-bred trotter shows a mark of 1:56.3. Firstclassprincess, also owned by Andrew, has drawn post eight. The Classic Photo lass registered runner-up finishes in each of three career starts. Chocolatier-Southwind Agnes filly Southwind Amiga will line up fifth behind the gate, making her debut after two qualifying efforts.

Circle City winner Tawesome More will look to win over the Indiana Downs oval in consecutive starts. The daughter of Muscles Yankee-Toss Up won her debut in style, trotting to a four and one-half length advantage for driver Andy Miller. The Tony Alagna pupil has drawn the outside post for Bloodstock Farm & Stables. Alagna has also entered Montage, a third-place finisher in the $50,000 Circle City. Dale Hiteman is set to drive the filly from post two.

Win Doctor, a Windsong’s Legacy-Aerobics filly, shows the fastest time of the field with a 1:56.1 clocking. Trained by Scott Andrews, the freshman will make her third seasonal start, lining up behind the gate fourth.

A group of six two-year-old colt and gelding trotters will battle in the Circle City, carded as the eighth race on the program. Indiana-bred Dream Kid tops the field for trainer Ron Burke. From the first crop of Cincinnati Kid, the colt has won three of five starts, accumulating $58,337 for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, JJK Stable and Frank Baldachino. Ricky Macomber will guide Dream Kid from the rail.

Trainer Jim Dailey has entered a pair of trotters including CJ’s Secret colt Eight O’Clock Rock. A winner the last time out in Indiana Sires Stakes action, the freshman possesses a 1:58 mark for owners Jerry Zosel, Kathy Ratcliff and Kim Dailey. The colt will start from post two, joined by Jailhouse Jesse gelding Prison Guard, lining up fourth behind the gate.

Review Stakes winner Ax Man has drawn post three for trainer and driver Peter Wrenn. The Tom Ridge gelding, bred by Steve Stewart, has won two of four starts, earning $27,900. The Trotter is owned by Melanie Wrenn and Eugene Oldford.

A total of $440,000 will be up for grabs in 11 Indiana Sires Stakes contests Wednesday at Indiana Downs. Wrenn will look to keep his set of sophomore trotters perfect in ISS competition, with both Msnaughtybynature and Earl’s Glider drawing favorable posts. Earl’s Glider, flawless in eight starts, will line up fourth in his $40,000 division, one of two splits for sophomore colt and gelding trotters. Three $40,000 divisions were drawn for three-year-old fillies, with Msnaughtybynature getting the inside post in her event.

Dark Alley Sally will attempt to win her ninth straight start for trainer Steve Carter in the night’s 10th race, one of two divisions for sophomore filly pacers. The Third Straight filly has earned $202,000 this season for Carter and his wife, Tammy. Josh Sutton will steer the Indiana Sires Stakes finals winner from post seven.

Indiana Downs will host four $40,000 ISS divisions for two-year-old colt pacers. GD Airliner, Third Street Pete and Yankees In Six, each a winner in the first round of ISS competition, have drawn into the same division Wednesday, carded as the 12th race on the program. Indy’s Eraser, Paco Labrook and Straight Dancer, also winners in the first leg, will compete in the third race. (Indiana Downs)
