The well-bred Kevlar Hanover ($3.40), a 3-year-old gelding by Allamerican Native out of the Niatross mare Krafty Kim (the dam of Klingon Hanover), posted his third straight victory with a lifetime best 1:53.4 victory at the isle pompano park Wednesday for driver Bruce Ranger.

Kevlar Hanover has improved with every start the last month at Pompano for trainer Peter Blood. This week coming on at the finish to best pacesetter Best Be Who by a neck.

The third race pace started off with Best Be Who and driver David Ingraham going right to the lead from post four with Tommys Shark (Dan Clements) getting the two-hole trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.4. Then by the half mile marker in :57, Ranger started on the outside with Kevlar Hanover from fifth place and they started grinding it out towards the leaders.

By the three-quarter mile mark in 1:25.3, Ranger was able to drop into second place with Kevlar Hanover behind Best Be Who and then as they started down the stretch, Ranger and Kevlar Hanover came after Ingraham with Best Be Who and the two horses battled to the wire with Kevlar Hanover surging to the lead in the final strides. Tommys Shark held for third place.

It was the fourth win in eight lifetime starts for Kevlar Hanover, who is owned by Peter Blood and Rick Berks of Pompano Beach and Boca Raton respectively.

One of 13 foals from the top mare, Krafty Kim, Kevlar Hanover is a half brother to $718,000 winner, Klingon Hanover and $349,000 winner, Kilty Hanover. Of his 13 brothers and sisters, all but one foal did not make the races.

The fastest mile of the night belonged to Armbro Aviator ($41.80), who just got up by a nose over pacesetter Fox Valley Michael in 1:52.4. It was the second win this year for Armbro Aviator, an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jiffy, trained by Jim McDonald and owned by the SSG Stables of North Boston, NY. (Pompano)
