Keystone Matt held off multiple challenges to take the $35,000 second leg of the Cam Fella Pacing Series at Woodbine Saturday night in 1:52.4. From post position #7, Ben Wallace trainee Keystone Matt, with Mario Baillargeon in the bike, made an early rush to the front, in a first quarter of :26.3. Longshot Just Plug It In was sent in hot pursuit by Luc Ouellette, and briefly overtook, but Keystone Matt regained the lead in a lukewarm half of :56.1. Another longshot, Dan Martin pupil Bolero Trisco, managed to draw alongside Keystone Matt in the far turn, but Baillargeon battled back and sent his charge across the wire a length in front, with late rushes from Dark Sign (Jack Moiseyev) and Mr Saratoga (Jody Jamieson) good for second and third. The other half of the Ben Wallace entry, Crazy Dan, stepped in for fourth money. Keystone Matt, a son of Western Hanover, is owned by Brad Grant of Milton, Ontario and has racked up more than $185,000 in earnings, lifetime, with 10 wins in 20 starts. Until December 2007 he had raced exclusively in Alberta. The four-year-old is now poised for a series sweep, with the Cam Fella final being the feature on the Woodbine card next Saturday, March 22.
