Keystone Tabby, who won a division of the Duenna at the Meadowlands last week, makes her next start on Friday, August 13 in the $10,000 elimination race for the $70,000 estimated Helen Smith Trot at Freehold Raceway.

Five of the seven three-year-old fillies in the Helen Smith Elim will advance to the final on August 20, joining three with byes – Costa Rica, Religulous and Unefoisdansmavie – who have the highest money earned in the last 90 days.  The elim is carded as the seventh race on Friday.

The Helen Smith is restricted to New Jersey-sired sophomore fillies and is sponsored by the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey.

Keystone Tabby, a daughter of Classic Photo, took a lifetime mark of 1:55 on July 21 at the Meadowlands, picking up her first career victory and adding her second tally on August 6 in a $30,000 Duenna split.

On May 7 she made her season’s debut at Freehold, finishing second to Religulous in the $40,000 Lady Suffolk.

Keystone Tabby, a $22,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase, now has finished in-the-money in eight of 14 career start, banking $53,171 for the ownership of the American Viking Racing Stable of Allentown, NJ; Theodore Gewertz of New York, NY; Rojan Stables of Wilmington, DE and Robert M. Feldman of Gladwyne, PA.  Trond Smedshammer is the filly’s driver and trainer.

Costa Rica is the million-dollar earning daughter of Muscles Yankee who finished in the top three in 15 of 16 starts at two. Ten victories in 2009 included the New Jersey Sire Stakes Finals at both Freehold and the Meadowlands as well as the $450,000 Goldsmith Maid and $441,750 Peaceful Way, both at Mohawk, and the $157,800 Matron at Dover Downs.

At three, she is winless in six starts but added $65,374 to push her career earnings to $1,035,500 for owners Christina Takter of East Windsor, NJ and Toronto-based brothers John and Jim Fielding.  Jimmy Takter trains the filly who is usually partnered with Ron Pierce.

Religulous, also by Muscles Yankee, has two wins and two thirds in 10 starts this year, earning $67,460 toward a total of $120,976.  She was the winner by a length over Keystone Tabby when they met in a $40,000 split of the Lady Suffolk at Freehold.

The Jeff Webster trainee is owned by the Mentally Stable Inc. of Delray, FL and Jerry Silva of Long Beach, NY.

Unefoisdansmavie, a daughter of Revenue, was unraced at two and now has three wins, one second and one third in 12 starts.  The filly, owned by P Kleinhans Racing Inc. of Flemington NJ and AJKS Racing of West Paterson, NJ, has earned $44,578 thanks largely to three straight wins from May 9 to June 3.

The field for the Helen Smith Elimination [rail out with sire, driver, trainer and morning line odds]: Kitefin Hanover, Muscles Yankee, George Brennan, Randy Beeckman, 9-2; Celebrity Faith, Yankee Glide, David Miller, Staffan Lind, 5-1; Reviewer, Yankee Glide, Cat Manzi, Randy Beeckman, 9-2; Raysofgrace De Vie, Windsong’s Legacy, Andy Miller, Julie Miller, 5-2; Keystone Tabby, Classic Photo, Trond Smedshammer, Trond Smedshammer, 7-2; Orizaba, Yankee Glide, Jeff Gregory, Jonas Czernyson, 8-1; Classic Alana, Classic Photo, Daniel Dube, Erv Miller, 6-1 and IPO Blue Chip, Yankee Glide, Brad Hanners, Robert Myers, 10-1.
