Daguet Rapide, one of Italy’s great racehorses and sires, who was kidnapped one year ago, has been found on a beach near Naples, in Italy.
Daguet Rapide, a son of Pine Chip out of the Workaholic mare Hangone, was kidnapped June 18, 2008 at Allevamento di Mordono, the farm where he was standing, outside Bologna. Although the kidnappers reportedly demanded ransom, owners Marco Folli and Jean Pierre Dubois refused. The trotter was found by passersby on the beach in Campania at Lido di Local and was in good physical and mental condition when he was picked up by farm manager Folli. Daguet Rapide was the winner of most every Italian stake for his crop, including the Derby, the Premio Europa and the U.E.T. for 4 year olds. He then began a successful stallion career, with his oldest crop being four this year.
