Tamarack Hanover became the fastest 2-year-old trotting colt of the meet (2:00.2) during Friday night’s (Sept. 5) action at Vernon Downs. Tamarack Hanover’s smooth striding, gate-to-wire win for Jim Marohn Jr. in Friday’s first race, a $10,000 division of the Kindergarten Classic for 2-year-old male trotters, trimmed three-fifths of a second off the previous 2008 colt mark, established by Money Machine last week. It marked the first trip to the winner’s circle for the bay son of Cantab Hall-Teagarden Hanover, who is owned by the Little E LLC contingent and trained by Bob Bencal. The Lindy Racing Stable’s Airzoom Lindy took the other $10,000 Kindergarten colt-gelding clash after a bold, front-striding performance in Friday’s second race. Trainer Frank Antonacci did the teaming as the bay son of Cantab Hall-True Diva defeated Money Machine by more than two lengths to record his first tally in three starts. The $10,000 Kindergarten filly flights went to Tresbien Volo (Yankee Glide-Tresora), in a maiden-breaking 2:00.2 showing for trainer-driver Jan Johnson and his ownership partners, Jorgen Jahre Jr. and Anders Jahre, and TK Lindy (Conway Hall-Measure Up), in 2:01 for driver Fern Paquet Jr., trainer Kevin Lare and owner Jerry Silva.
