Airzoom Lindy and Toni's Wink emerged as the top achievers in Friday night's Kindergarten Classic Series championship competition at Vernon Downs. Airzoom Lindy became the fastest 2-year-old colt trotter of the meet with his 1:59.1 performance in Friday's $91,750 sixth race, the Kindergarten final for male highsteppers, while Toni's Wink equaled Vernon's season's standard for females members of the diagonal gait with her 2:00 effort in the $107,500 eighth event. Trainer Frank Antonacci did the teaming for the Lindy Racing Stable as Airzoom Lindy rallied from fourth at the half and closed from third in the stretch to record a four-length triumph over Tamarack Hanover. Manningly endured a rough trip over a rain-soaked track to finish third. The impressive showing secured the second series score in succession and third overall for the bay son of Cantab Hall-True Diva, who increased his winning to $54,831 after four lifetime starts. The time was a new win record for the bay colt, and it bettered Tamarack Hanover's previous 2:00.2 meet standard for this class. Competing as part of an Oyvind Hegdal stable entry, Toni's Wink advanced from fourth in the early going into the lead past the half and remained in charge en route to a 1-3/4 length triumph over previous divisional series winner Tresbien Volo. Flirtin Lady closed for third. Howard Parker did the teaming for trainer Hegdal as the bay daughter of CR Commando-Paul's Wink improved her record to three wins and a second-place finish after five career outings. The winner of $66,750 is shared in ownership by the Joie De Vie Farm, Peter Barbato and Tindaro Abramo. She tied On With The Show's 2:00 meet mark for this age, sex and gait. Jimmy Whittemore teamed Newberry Winner to a front-striding 1:55 triumph in Friday's ninth race, the evening's top Miracle Mile class for female pacers, picking up his 71st victory after 66 local programs and gaining a one win edge over Josh Marks in the meet's dash-winning derby.
