Ky. bill still in limbo

Kentucky legislators have failed to come up with a compromise bill on expanded gaming, which puts the issue in jeopardy of dying in the present legislative session.



Several legislators have been pushing for a compromise on two proposals which would allow the citizens of Kentucky to vote on expanded gaming, which would put casino games at eight horse racing tracks. The idea of adding free-standing casinos at four other locations in the state have also been discussed.



If lawmakers let the expanded gaming issue die this year, a proposed constitutional amendment couldn't be offered on an election ballot until 2008 at the earliest.
