Ky. casino bill amended

A proposed bill that could allow up to nine casinos in Kentucky had four amendments attached in the state House Tuesday, including ones that specify casinos at the racetracks. One amendment called for casinos at the eight tracks and three other locations, with those sites not being within a 50-mile radius of a track casino.



Another proposal called for a constitutional amendment that would permit the legislature to establish one casino license at a racetrack for every 500,000 people in the state (Kentucky's population in the last census in 2000 was close to 4 million), meaning there could be eight casinos.



The two other amendments called for the stipulation that at least 10 percent of casino profits go to treat compulsive gamblers and their families.
