January 23, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

European trotting journalists were reporting Sunday evening (Jan. 22) that Swedish trainer Stefan Melander has said he has talked to North American driving ace Mike Lachance about driving one of his entries in the Jan. 30 Prix d'Amerique at the Vincennes track in Paris.

Melander will not be starting Scarlet Knight in the Prix d'Amerique, but has other candidates including the Super Arnie sired Gigant Neo.

Lachance has taken the winter off from driving in North America and has been vacationing in France. He plans to attend the Prix d'Amerique whether or not he drives.

Twenty-six horses are eligible to the Prix d'Amerique but the field will be limited to 18.
