Loyal Opposition, a three-time divisional champion, and Burning Point, the 3-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year in 2003, will be among nine of the premier pacing mares in Friday night’s $201,000 Lady Liberty Final at the Meadowlands. Loyal Opposition, who won the 2004 edition of the Lady Liberty, drew post nine while Burning Point, the 2005 winner and 2004 runner-up, will leave from the rail.

It was in the 2005 Lady Liberty that Loyal Opposition set the stakes, track and world record for four-year-old pacing mares with a time of 1:48.4. This year has won the $75,000 Strada Memorial on April 22 at the Meadowlands and the stakes named for her, the $48,000 Loyal Opposition, at Chicago’s Hawthorne on June 3, lifting her career earnings to $2.7 million with 50 wins, 13 seconds and nine thirds from 83 starts. The 6-year-old daughter of Cole Muffler races in the name of Daniel Waxman and is trained by Erv Miller.
