August 13, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Two Matt's Scooter-sired colts (Outsource and Jimmy's Scooter) and two fillies by Artiscape (Lady Mattgalane and Artcotic) won four of the five New Jersey Sire Stakes (NJSS) Pari-Mutuel Division races for 2-year-old pacers, worth $128,500 in purses, Saturday at Freehold Raceway.

Meanwhile, driver George Brennan continued to have a hot hand, winning six races on the Freehold program, three of which were in Sire Stakes competition. He had won seven races the night before at the Meadowlands.

The fastest NJSS clocking was a 1:56 mile by Lady Mattgalane, one of the two winning Artiscape fillies, with Brennan and Norman combining this time for owners Clay and Scott Horner and Perretti Racing Stables, in another $22,000 race.

Artcotic, also by Artiscape, won a $22,500 heat for fillies in 1:57 with Daniel Dube driving for trainer George Teague Jr. and owner Montrell Teague.

The Teague connection also scored with Outsource, a colt by Matt's Scooter, driven by Catello Manzi in 1:58.1 in one of two $31,000 NJSS colt divisions. Brennan drove Jimmy's Scooter, by Matt's Scooter, to a 1:57.3 victory in the other event for owners Germain and Kathleen Binette.
