In a preview of The Red Mile Grand Circuit action, featuring a trio of Kentucky Futurity eligible colts, a $5,300 Free For All Trot included: Opening Night, Whit and VC Chocoholic, who all went to the gate against a pair of more seasoned 7-year-old competitors, Lanson ($731106) and Titan Cup winner Arch Madness ($3.1 million).
But Lanson, winning his fourth race in seven starts in 2011, was driven by Mike Lachance for trainer Don Swick and was the older, but surprise winner, in 1:55.4 for the Royal Wire Products Stable. Arch Madness was second and Opening Night third.
