Lantern Kronos draw post two in Sunday's Moni Maker final

After receiving a bye directly into the final, World Filly Trotting Derby winner Lantern Kronos will leave from post two in Sunday’s $225,200 Moni Maker for 3-year-old filly trotters at The Red Mile, while Stage Show, who won the single elimination last week, will start from post nine.

Lantern Kronos received a bye by virtue of being the richest entrant in the field in 2008 with $751,569 in earnings. Besides her career-best 1:53 Derby win in Du Quoin, Ill, in her last start Aug. 29, among the daughter of Viking Kronos’s 10 victories this year are the Elengantimage, American National and Casual Breeze. She also finished second in the $750,000 Hambletonian Oaks.

Trainer Jimmy Takter will drive Lantern Kronos in the Moni Maker final. A career winner of $780,169, she is owned by Falkbolagen Ab of Malmo, Sweden. Her older full brother, Going Kronos, is an internationally renowned world champion.

Although John Campbell directed Stage Show to her 1:55.3 victory last Sunday in the Moni Maker elim, Dave Palone will get the call from trainer Jim Campbell in the rich final. The daughter of Broadway Hall has seven wins in nine starts this year as she has amassed $158,908 in earnings for owners Arlene and Jules Siegel.
