Late closer finals action at Yonkers

Yonkers Raceway Friday night hosted a quartet of $30,000 finals for New York Bred Late Closers. The freshmen were on display in both sexes and gaits. Dan Daley trained two of the winners, doing the honors himself with the former.
 
Daley and Miss Conway teamed to win the Speedy Crown Trot for fillies, sitting a loose pocket trip before prevailing in 2:03.3 Thergosmyvacation (Joe Moeykens) closed to grab second, beaten three-quarters-of-a-length, with pace-setting Dream State (Jason Bartlett) holding the bottom of the ticket.
 
For Miss Conway, a daughter of Conway Hall now 3-for-10 this season, she was a popular ($3.40) victress for co-owners bob Brooks, Ann-Mari Daley and Richard Lombardo. The exacta paid $12.40, with the triple returning $80.
 
The Daley Double saw Stephane Bouchard and Aruba Vacation easily win the Conway Hall Trot (colts and geldings). The Dream Vacation gelding--with three wins in 11 seasonal starts-- defeated He's So Savvy (Jeff Gregory) by a measured length-and-a-quarter in a life-best r2:02.2. Blueridge Bob Cat (Jordan Stratton) was third.
 
For Aruba Vacation, co-owned by Ann-Mari Daley, Richard Lombardo and Howard Stables, he returned $2.60 as part of the odds-on entry. The exacta paid $7.80, with the triple returning $24.60.
 
Friday night's other Late Closer events were named after and won by...
 
--Most Happy Fella Pace (colts/geldings)...Park Lane Midnight (by Bettor's Delight); owner Shirley LeVin/trainer Mark Ford/driver Cat Manzi; 1:58.2/$7.80;
 
--Artiscape Pace (filles)...Rock N Amber (by Bettor's Delight); co-owner Brian Barton,Bob Young,Paul Gazzola/trainer Ed Hart/drvier Bouchard; (life-best) 1:59.4/$3.80.
 
Friday night's pair of $40,000 Open Handicaps, for trotters and distaff pacers, were won by Napoleon (Bartlett, $9.50) in 1:57.2 and Sentbytheangels (Ryan Anderson, $5.50) in 1:54.3. (Yonkers)
