LBJ elects new directors

Jay Scott and Kent (Chip) Hastings were elected Tuesday as directors of the Little Brown Jug Society during the annual meeting at the Brown Jug Restaurant. In other business, the LBJ board changed the date of the Little Brown Jug late nominating fee payment from Dec. 15 to Feb. 15.

Scott and Hastings, both Delaware residents, replace the deceased Richard Bump and George Hoffman, who resigned because of ill health.

Scott, a longtime volunteer at the Delaware County Fair, supervises all activities held at the hospitality pavilion during fair week. Hastings directs security at the Jug and Jugette barns and heads the race track systems department for the U.S. Trotting Association.

“We changed the date of the late nominating payment for the Jug to give yearling buyers the opportunity to nominate to the Jug and Jugette,” said Tom Thomson, president of the LBJ Society. “The change will take effect in 2008.”

The board also appointed a committee to study the complete stakes payment schedule for both the Little Brown Jug and Jugette

The board members reelected Thomson as president, Tom Wright as vice-president and treasurer, and Phil Terry as secretary. (LBJ)
