Georgian Downs is pleased to confirm that announcer Larry Lederman will make a one-time trip to “We’re programming a card of extreme racing, so we thought we better attract an extreme announcer,” said Lederman, the longtime racecaller at the now-defunct Garden State Park and the current voice of Freehold Raceway has been calling harness and Thoroughbred races since 1985. His unique style has earned him a reputation as one of the sport’s premier personalities. Xtreme Horsepower will feature an assortment of odd distance races and huge field sizes. Race distances will vary from an eighth of a mile to 3 1/8 miles. The experimental race card will also feature heat racing, an invitational match race and an Ontario Sire Stakes Gold Series final for 3-year-old pacing colts. “Xtreme Horsepower has been in the works for well over a year,” said Roberts. “We’re now in the process of putting the finishing touches on the day’s festivities–one of which was finding the right voice for a racing program as radical as this one. We’ve definitely got the right man for the job.” (Georgian Downs)
