The Lexington Selected Yearling Sale continued to show signs of a weaker marketplace this year as the average price at the fourth session, held Saturday night at the Fasig-Tipton Sale Pavilion, declined by 11.2 percent. That follows declines of 13, 14 and 16.8 percent in the previous three sessions. The median held up more on Saturday night, dipping by only 4.7 percent.
With the drop of 11.2 percent in the fourth session, the decline for the entire sale is tracking at 13 percent. The average price of the 567 yearlings selling through four sessions is $44,018.
The final session will take place Sunday. Last year’s final session generated an average of $16,861, which was a 9.4 percent increase from the same session in 2007.
