Liberator wins ISOBA

Return Home
November 11, 2005 | Print View

With only four starters dropped into the entry box for the $12,000 ISOBA Super Sale Stakes on Thursday night at Balmoral Park, this event for state-bred 2-year-old trotting colts was carded as a non-wagering event.

In perhaps the best performance of his nine-race career, Liberator continued his late season momentum with a resounding 15 1/4-length victory in 1:59.2.

Patiently handled by driver Tim Tetrick, this son of Valley Victor owned by Julius Munie was content to sit inside while trotting in third as He's The Cashew's (Andy Miller) and Loyz Trot'n Legend (Larry Finn) traded turns on the lead through opening splits of :30.3 and :59.2.

Heading around the far turn Tetrick had his colt on the move as they had drawn to within a head of He's The Cashew's as they hit the three-quarter mark in 1:29.2.

Moving through the stretch Valley Liberator made it look as though his rivals were trotting in quicksand as he quickly opened up a six-length advantagel. Continuing to widen his advantage as he headed for the wire the Roger Welch trainee was in a different zip code as he trotted under the wire with his second career win. He's The Cashew's was second while Loyz Trot'n Legend was third, 22 ¼ lengths behind the winner.
