On January 29, Menangle Park located just outside of Sydney, Australia, held its first racing card under the lights. The seven-eighths mile track is Australia's largest and the first nighttime card featured a new track record set by exported American pacer Lonestar Legend. The 5-year-old son of Western Hanover won the Tabcorp Golden Mile, the fifth race, in 1:53.
Now owned by Cold Mountain Stud, Lonestar Legend was trained in the US by Don Swick and won a heat of the 2008 Little Brown Jug then finished second to Shadow Play in the final.
