Like A Prayer, one of the leading young trotting sires in North America, underwent colic surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Clinic in Lexington on Thursday night and is expected to make a full recovery.
Although veterinarians said the 9-year-old stallion has a prognosis for a "full and complete recovery," he will not return to stud duties for the remainder of the 2008 breeding season. The announcement was made by Alan J. Leavitt, president of Walnut Hall Ltd., in Lexington, where Like A Prayer stands.
Leavitt added that the books of the other four trotting sires Walnut Hall Ltd. manages, Cash Hall, Conway Hall, Striking Sahbra, and Tom Ridge, have reopened to accommodate mares booked to Like A Prayer. (Walnut Hall Ltd.)
