Lil Bit Lil Bit made short work of his six rivals in capturing Friday’s $60,000 Apaches Fame Pacing Series final for three-year-old colts and geldings at Woodbine Racetrack in 1:53.4.
The son of Rambaran - Little Bit Famous shot straight to the front from post six for driver Luc Ouellette and established command well before the first quarter in :27. Once on top, the colt raced prettymuch uncontested through middle-half splits of :56.2 and 1:25.2.
Lil Bit Lil Bit easily rebuffed a mild first-over challenge in the third panel from Night Bandit and held all of his rivals at bay at the finish with a :28.2 final frame. Bruisers Brother followed all the way in the
pocket and finished a lapped-on second with Big Bay Point a well-beaten third. The winner returned $4.20 as the bettor’s choice. The victory was the fifth in just eight starts this season for the colt who was purchased for a mere $800 at Standardbred Canada’s Fall Extravaganza Mixed Sale two years ago. The Andrew Deleersnyder trainee has now banked just over $85,000 lifetime for owner Steven Deleersnyder of Windsor, Ontario.
Lil Bit Lil Bit is eligible to the upcoming Youthful Pacing Series which gets underway on March 26 at Woodbine. (Woodbine)
