Lis Deo, the half brother to world champion older stallion Lis Mara, put his own name in the record books Monday afternoon, capturing the Review Stakes-Little Pat for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers in a stakes record 1:50.2. The time also equals the national season’s record. Brent Holland sat third with the son of The Panderosa past an opening quarter in :27 before easily moving into the lead before the :55 half. The three quarters was passed in 1:22.3 and the colt continued to pull away from the field before crossing the finish line ahead of Vette Man and Tim Tetrick with Dinneratartsplace and Andy Miller third. Trained by Ervin Miller, Lis Deo has won all three of his starts this year for owners the Classic Photo Stable, MJG Racing Stable, Hill View Enterprises and Andy Willinger. In other Review Stakes Monday, Miss Scarlett, the New Jersey Sire Stakes champion, overcame a break at the start to win the 2-year-old filly pace in 1:53.1 for Miller, trainer Brett Shultz and owners Charles, Julie and Frances Nash; Southern Fire, who has been racing at Iowa county fairs, swept past Maryanne K in the stretch and captured the Review for 3-year-old filly trotters in 1:56.4 with Tetrick in the bike for trainer and owner Gary Hafner; and Rune, with Marcus Johnasson in the bike, won a photo finish with Operation Lindy and Miller in the $58,000 Alexander Memorial for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters in 1:53.3.
