Explosive Matter, the Adam Victor & Sons Stable standout 3-year-old trotter, was scratched "sick" from the Open Handicap at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Tuesday night, following his recent victory in the Colonial Trot at Harrah’s Chester.
The runner-up in the Hambletonian behind Muscle Hill in early August at the Meadowlands, Explosive Matter was appointed post position nine at Pocono, but paired with a minor fever, trainer Noel Daley made the decision to scratch the colt.
“The horse was running a little fever,” Daley said of the colt’s absence. “It was nothing major, but we didn’t want to push him.”
Daley said Explosive Matter trained back very well and is being prepped for the Canadian Trotting Classic, scheduled for Sept. 12 at Mohawk Racetrack.
