October 20, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Little Miss Dragon made her big move on the backstretch en route to a 1:52.3 victory in a division of the Breeders Crown 2-year-old filly pace eliminations, while Cabana Fever tipped three wide at the head of the stretch and blew past the field for her 1:53.1 victory in the second split.

John Campbell was sitting fifth after an opening quarter of :27.3 when he turned Little Miss Dragon loose. The Dragon Again lass roared to the front of the field, hitting the half-mile marker with the lead in :56.2. A :28.1 third panel put her at the three quarters in 1:24.3 and a final quarter in :28 brought her to the finish line 1 1/2 lengths over the late-closing Western Montana and Dave Palone. Hana Hanover was third for MacDonell with Jaynes Character fourth and Trim Hanover fifth.

Owned by Adam Victor and Son and trained by Noel Daley, Little Miss Dragon scored her third triumph in five starts.

Ryan Anderson didn’t make his move with Cabana Fever until the three quarters, but it was a big one. From next to last in the 8-horse field the daughter of Real Desire was tipped three wide around the final turn and then she blew past the field and scored a one-length victory over Calgary Princess and Lachance, who were placed third. Finishing third and placed second were Southwind Rio and Mark MacDonald. Also qualifying for the final were Native Hanover and Speed Date.

For Cabana Fever it was her sixth score of the season in eight starts for trainer Joe Seekman and owners L&L DeVisser LLC, Sawgrass Farms and Helping Hands Stables.

The field for the Breeders Crown final in this division in ost position order, with the winners picking their posts: Trim Hanover, Cabana Fever, Little Miss Dragon, Southwind Rio, Speed Date, Calgary Hanover, Native Hanover, Jaynes Character, Hana Hanover and Western Montana.
