Load The Dice continued his dominance of the Open Handicap pacers at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs by winning the feature on Saturday afternoon. The race carried the day’s top purse of $22,000. Load The Dice had the outside post in a field of nine but made the lead around the first turn and stayed in front all the way around to win by a half-length in 1:52 with Eric Goodell in the bike. Cinderella Guy finished 2nd while Tivoli Hanover rallied for 3rd. Owned by Engel Stable LLC of Buffalo Grove, IL, Sheffield Stable of Gladwyne, PA, and D R Van Witzenburg of Crest Hill, IL and trained by Ken Rucker, Load The Dice is now 3-for-3 at Pocono in the 2008 meet in Open Handicap paces. The 6-year-old gelding sired by Cam’s Card Shark now has 25 career wins with earnings just shy of $750,000. In an earlier race Saturday at Pocono, driver George Brennan suffered an arm injury in an accident. Brennan’s horse, Don’tloseyourdayjob, had to pull up suddenly on the back stretch in race 6 when another horse went to his knees in front of him. Brennan was thrown from the bike to the track. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for further observation. (Pocono Downs)
