Pamela Wagner and Scott Woogen’s Lolique won the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot Virginia Breeders Prep by 20 lengths Thursday night at Colonial Downs. Lolique’s victory highlighted huge days for driver John Wagner, trainer Manley Brown Jr. and owner Pamela Wagner. John Wagner drove three winners, Brown conditioned four winners on the 11-race card and Pamela Wagner owned three winners.

Wagner let Lolique settle into fourth in the early part of the race as stablemate Paradise Rocky took the early lead and trotted the opening quarter in :28.1. Wagner sent Lolique for the lead halfway down the backstretch and the 3-year-old Tagliabue gelding blew the race wide open with a quick burst of speed.

Lolique was three lengths in front after a half in :56.4 and just continued widening his advantage on the turn. Lolique turned for home after three-quarters in 1:24.4 with a 10-length lead and doubled that advantage in the final 1300 feet, crossing the wire in 1:53.4. J’s Love Song was 20 lengths back in second and Done Dreamen was another half length back in third.

Lookinforagrin won the 3-year-old colt and gelding pace Breeders Prep in gate-to-wire fashion. Lookinforagrin paced the mile in 1:53.4, holding off Charlie’s late bid by three-quarters of a length. Zach E Fresh was third.

Lookinforagrin was driven to victory by John Wagner. Brown trains the Grinfromeartoear colt for Pamela Wagner.

Emotional Balance lived up to her 2-5 odds in the 3-year-old filly pace, winning by a length in 1:55.4. Brown trains the Western Ideal filly for owner Gold Leaf Stable. Leading driver Corey Braden guided Emotional Balance to the one-length victory over Rock Sensation. Caviart Callie was third.

Credit Maker scored an upset victory in the 3-year-old filly trot Breeders Prep, edging Color Schemes by a half-length. Wasador was another half length back in third.

The Virginia Breeders finals will be contested on Saturday, Nov. 4. The 2-year-old eliminations will be held on Friday, Oct. 27. (Colonial Downs)
