Lolique made his seasonal debut a winning one in the last $31,000 Open Handicap trot of the Dover Downs meet on its penultimate program of the 2009-2010season on Wednesday, April 14. Josh Green clinched his fifth straight Leading Trainer crown. John Wagner driving Lolique battled Impel Hanover (Jim King) from the three-quarters until mid stretch before pulling away for a 1:54.3 victory in the $31,000 feature trot. Mac Atack Mac continued to impress after advancing from the upper claiming ranks to the top trot class. Vic Kirby drove the gelding to a second-place finish with Impel Hanover third. Pam Wagner and Scott Woogen-owned Lolique, an altered son of Tagliabue-Crystal Vic, a lifetime winner of 32 races and $710,015. In the $16,500 sub-feature trot, Uwantapieceofme pulled out as the horses turned down the stretch and George Dennis guided the SJ's Photo-Better Together four-year-old gelding past leader Jon Win (Jim Morand) for a 1:56 success. George and Tina Dennis and ASK W Stables own the winner of four of 20 starts this year. Valdez (Tony Morgan) was the show finisher. Wendy Crissman and Robbins Next Farm's Floyd Bromac N moved into high gear on the final turn and Jon Roberts guided the Caprock-Francine Bromac gelding home in 1:53.2 to win a $10,500 Male pace. Wynnfield Scamp (Eddie Davis Jr.) was a strong second in front of Caspian Prince (Ross Wolfenden). When Al Ibad Spider won the 13th race in 1:54.2, the win ensured Josh Green's fifth consecutive Leading Trainer title at the track. It was his 68th win of the meet, two more than runner-up Dylan Davis' 66. Davis has only one horse entered on closing day, Thursday. Jim Morand continues with a hot hand, driving three winners. Tony Morgan also had a triple while Ron Pierce had a driving double. The 2009-2010 Dover Downs meet comes to an end on Thursday, April 15 with four $100,000 DSBF Finals for three-year-olds.
