January 14, 2008 Send To A Friend  | Print View

It was a rainy and longshot filled Sunday at Dover Downs with the longest price coming in the feature race when Nono Yezz Rusty won at 36-1 odds. Tony Morgan and Corey Callahan each drove three winners

Carter Racing Stable's unheralded Nono Yezz Rusty zipped down the passing lane with Eddie Davis Jr. driving to score a lifetime-best 1:56.3 victory in a $14,500 mares pace. Keystone Demi (Callahan) beat front-pacing Lucky Lady L (Roger Plante) for second money.

In a $14,000 pace for younger male horses, one of the few favorites to win, Big League Yankee, owned by the Kellers and Bittles, raced outside for much of the last half before persevering in 1:55.1 with Morgan at the controls. Cathedral Grove (Callahan) was a close second. Tufsun Beach (Davis) was the third horse.

Kevin Sizer piloted Robert DeBolt's 19-1 shot Ain't Gonna Happen to a 1:54.4 decision in a $10,500 Male pace giving trainer Bobby Myers his second win on the card. Backintheday (Plante) was second with Hincapie Hanover (Wayne Truitt) next.

Meet leading driver Morgan won for the second time piloting Diamonds Revenge chalked up a 1:54.3 win in the day's top claimer with a $30,000 tag. It was the second win in the Jenna's Beach Boy gelding last three starts. Chivalrous N (Mike Cole) was second with Mexican Coast (Jonathan Roberts) third.

A 25-1 longshot, Star Drifter N and Art Stafford Jr. rang up a 1:54.2 win in a $25,000 claiming pace. David Clark and trainer Trevor Stafford own the overseas-bred Dream Away gelding. Heza Character (Davis) was the place finisher with Scootin Scholar (Brandon Givens) third finisher. (Dover Downs)
