Lislea Bell (Pat Berry), went down the road from her inside post at nearly 37-1, and Stan (Jordan Stratton), put up at exactly 42-1, stuffed a lot more than stockings with less than three weeks of shopping before Christmas.
In the Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace, Lislea Bella led through moderate early fractions of :28 and :57. Village Beauty A (Larry Stalbaum), another member of the longshot legion, was in behind with Twin B Tiara (Greg Grismore), plodding along uncovered. That poor outer tier did nothing fior the cause of even-money favorite Best Chance Hanna (Pat Lachance), who was forced to come three-deep around the dullards at the 1:25.3 three-quarters.
Lislea Bella, meanwhile, had a 1 1/4 lengths to play with entering the lane. She held off a drifting "Hanna" by a neck in 1:54.1. Village Beuaty A, at 22-1, held third, with Twin B Tiara and Dolcezza (Eric Abbatiello) also making money in the field of seven (Carousel Frame was ill). For Lislea Bella, a 4-year-old daughter of Lislea, it was her fourth win in 22 seasonal starts. She returned $75.50, leading a $182.50 exacta and $858 triple. Aaron Lambert trained the victress for co-owners D'Elegenace Stable IX and Carmen Iannacone. Lislea Bella was bred by Yonkers' president Tim Rooney. The weekly marquee trot saw tepid 2-1 fave Bright Idea (Stephane Bouchard) leave like a shot from his assigned eight-hole. He made an open-length lead in the first turn, then jumped it off. That placed Enjoy the Victory (Larry Stalbaum) at the controls through intervals of :29.2, :59.3 and 1:29. He led by a couple of lengths turning for home, but began to tire. Drifting into the passing lane, Enjoy the Victory did hold off Stan by a nose in 1:58.4 with Tasty Max (Lachance) third, beaten a neck. However, that failure to be on the straight and narrow cost Enjoy the Victory, who was set down to second. Justice Hall (Jim Meittinis) and Rick (Berry) earned the minor moolah. For Stan, a 9-year-old SJ's Photo gelding owned by Larry Thompson and trained by William Adamczyk, it was his fifth win in two dozen '07 tries. He paid $86, with the exacta returning $443.50 and the triple good for $1,178. (Yonkers Raceway)
