Longtime Michigan publicist Dan Conway, who worked for Standardbred groups in the state for many years, and whose stories appeared on the pages of The Horseman And Fair World, died Jan. 17. He was 68.
Despite being wheelchair bound, Mr. Conway was a regular at racetracks in Michigan. Known for his encyclopedic knowledge of harness racing, he taught handicapping classes and led many tours of the racetracks for newcomers.
A lover of blues music, Mr. Conway also taught politics at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Mich.
Mr. Conway is survived by his wife,Barbara; mother,Alice; siblings,James, Kathleen, Maura and Peggy; nieces and nephews, Kevin, Brian, Patrick, Bridget, Kristine, Jennifer and Annabelle; grandchildren, Elisabeth, Yeshua, Sarai and Avigayle;and stepchildren,Mandy Bayles and Scott (Ashley) Bayles.
