With Memphis Glow on the sidelines for a week after three straight Mares Open wins, Northfield's 2007 co-Horse-of-the-Year, Look To Book ($4.60) let the ladies now there was a new sheriff in town Friday. In her return from Indiana Downs, the five-year-old Nobleland Sam mare made every call a winning one as she easily turned back co-favored Andi Andi, who got away second and played follow the leader for the entire mile. Gadjet raced impressively from post eight to finish third. Look To Book, trained by Mark Deaton for breeder-Owen Gerald Goldberg, posted fractions of 28.2, 57.1 and 1:26.3 en route to the 1:55.3 win with Ryan Angus in the bike. The win in the $7,000 event was her 6th this year as she pushed her seasonal earnings to $64,365 and career bankroll to $214,165. (Northfield Park)
