Lou’s Legacy, a half sister to 1997 Hambletonian champion Malabar Man, extended his winning streak to three with a quarter-length victory in the $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes–Green Acres Final on Wednesday at Freehold Raceway. The son of the late Windsong’s Legacy–Lady Love McBur trotted the featured sixth-race mile in 2:01.3, taking the lead at the quarter and drawing away with every stride. The Chuck Sylvester trainee was driven to his fourth win with two seconds in six career starts by Jim Marshall III.
Lou’s Legacy returned $3.20, $2.10, $2.10. Runner-up Nice Dream by Dream Vacation paid $4.00, $3.60. Captain’s Watch by Dream Vacation was third and paid $5.40.
Lou's Legacy has now banked $75,000 for owner and breeders Mal and Janet Burroughs LLC of Westwood, NJ. On Sept. 17 the colt won the $85,000 Harold Dancer final.
