April 09, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

LR Dancing Dream extended her streak to four straight wins in the $20,000 second round of the Jersey Girls Series Thursday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.

LR Dancing Dream laid in wait as Mid-Western Jatelo led the field through torrid fractions of :27.2, :54 and 1:21.2 before fading to the back of the pack.  Driver Brian Sears angled LR Dancing Dream off cover at the head of the lane and she drew off to a career best 1:50.4 clocking.  Harper Lee was 3-4 lengths behind in second, while World Fame held third after making a mild stretch bid.  Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the 11-horse field, LR Dancing Dream paid $3.20.

LR Dancing Dream has now won four of 13 starts this season for trainer Lou Pena and owner KDM Stables Corp. of Farmingdale, NY.  She surpassed $150,000 in earnings with the victory.  The 4-year-old daughter of Ft Apache Hanover-Speeding Bunny looms the one to beat in the $65,800 Jersey Girls Final on Friday, April 16.

Superstars on both sides of racing will put their lengthy winning streaks on the line Friday night.

Lucky Jim bids for a record 17 straight wins at the Meadowlands in the $50,000 second round of the Su Mac Lad Series, while Zenyatta goes for her 16th career victory in the Grade I Apple Blossom at Oaklawn Park.   Meadowlands first race post time is 7 pm, while the simulcast of Zenyatta's race at Oaklawn is slated for 7:25 pm (EST).  Lucky Jim is the 7-5 morning line favorite from post seven in the tenth race feature.  In a thrilling showdown, the 2009 Older Trotter of the Year held off Enough Talk to win the first leg of the Su Mac Lad in 1:52.1.
