The 2014 debut of O'Brien Award nominee Luck Be Withyou came a few weeks later than originally reported, but the colt surely made a statement with his Monday morning qualifier at Mohawk Racetrack.
With James MacDonald at the controls, Luck Be Withyou was all by himself through splits of :28.3, :57.3 and 1:26.2 leading by some 30 lengths at the top of the stretch. The mile was punctuated with a sizzling final quarter of :26.4 to hit the wire in 1:53.1.
"He was awesome," trainer Bill Cass told Trot Insider when reached for comment. "(MacDonald) said he just spoke to him at the head of the lane and he comes come in :26 and change."
