Mr. Feelgood won the 61st Little Brown Jug Thursday afternoon at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fairgrounds, receiving a perfect two-hole trip with driver Mark MacDonald in the second heat before wearing down the leading Armbro Deuce down the stretch and crossing the finish line in 1:50.3.

The win in the pacing classic worth a total of $541,000 gave both driver MacDonald and trainer Jimmy Takter--known primarily for his trotting expertise--their first-ever Jug champion. Cactus Creek and driver Mike Lachance followed in the three hole and was able to tip out and finish second, beaten 1 3/4 lengths. Armbro Deuce held for third, 3 1/2 lengths behind Mr. Feelgood.

A son of Grinfromeartoer, Mr. Feelgod is owned by Canamerica Capital Corp., Diversity Stable and Lindy Farms of Conn. With his straight-heats victory in the Jug, Mr. Feelgood now has eight wins in 16 sarts, and earnings of more than $465,000 this year. Trainer Takter, who said afterward he was unaware his colt was even Jug eligible until about three weeks ago, said the sophomore will now head to Canada for Sire Stakes and the Breeders Crown.
