Possess The Magic set a new world record for 2-year-old trotting fillies Wednesday afternoon at The Red Mile, posting a 1:54.2 victory in one of five divisions of the $364,000 International Stallion Stakes (ISS). The time broke the mark set just one week ago by Pampered Princess.

Mike Lachance was in the sulky behind the daughter of Self Possessed, who defeated Satu and Likely Volo on her way to her eighth win in 11 starts. The New Jersey Sire Stakes champion is owned by breeder Brittany Farms and trained by Ron Gurfein. Her earnings now stand at $391,290 with the winner's share of the $73,200 purse.

Pampered Princess had a chance to take her world record back in the fifth ISS division, but she only needed a 1:56 effort to coast to her eighth straight victory. John Campbell was in the sulky, dropping in third early and waiting patiently until just past the half before moving his charge. Pampered Princess rolled up first-over and took command at the top of stretch, winning in hand over Wishful Me and Adelaide Hall.

Jimmy Takter trains the winner for owners Bob and David Anderson. She is now unbeaten in eight career starts, earning more than $450,000.

The first ISS split went to Kentucky Sire Stakes champion Godiva Hall, who stretched her winning streak to five with a career-best 1:56.1 effort.

"I think this was her best effort yet, and she was even hitting the bike," driver Dave Palone said afterward.

Trained by Pete Foley, the daughter of Like A Prayer is owned by Gene and Stephen Oldford and North South Partners 2. Her career earnings now surpass the $235,000 mark.

Sweet Alabama got home first in 1:57.1 in the third ISS division, holding off the late bids of Harbour Belle and Rosy Prospect. David Miller was in the sulky as Sweet Alabama won for the fourth time in six starts. She is trained by Osvaldo Formia and owned by breeders Al Libfeld and Marvin Katz.

A daughter of Conway Hall, Sweet Alabama is out of the mare Armbro Sassafras, a half sister to the $800,00-winning mare Armbro Keepsake.

Danae, a daughter of Andover Hall, won the fourth split with a 1:57.3 come-from-behind effort for driver Ron Pierce. Ipanema Oaks was second with Aiken For Clay third.

George Teague Jr. trains and shares ownership of the winner with Rodney Mitchell Jr. The win was her second in six starts, equaling her previous mark set in an Oakville division at Mohawk in mid September.
